Alright, alright, I promise the technique I'm about to share is way more exciting than my joke. Let's dive in!
The Power of Unfinished Business
You know that annoying feeling that sticks with you when you've been interrupted and left something unfinished? Like when you pause a binge-worthy series and it haunts you until you have time to finish watching it? Or when the story you're interrupted in the middle of reading a compelling novel? That, my friend, is the Zeigarnik effect in action!
In simple terms, the Zeigarnik effect is our brain's way of saying, "Hey, you left something unfinished, and I'm not cool with that!" It's the psychological phenomenon where we tend to remember uncompleted tasks more than completed ones.
Tease, Don't Tell: Instead of laying out all the features of your product, tease a few and hint at more to come. Make your readers curious. Give them just enough to whet their appetite but leave them craving the full course.
Cliffhangers are Your Best Friend: End your emails on a note of suspense. Maybe hint at an upcoming product launch or a secret tip you'll share in the next email. The key is to make them eagerly wait for your next email.
Incomplete Stories: Share a customer testimonial but leave out the final result. Or start a compelling story and promise to finish it in the next email. The anticipation will drive them nuts (in a good way)!
End Meetings Early: Just like the technique suggests, wrap up your sales meetings a tad early. Leave them with a few burning questions. Trust me, they'll be ringing you up in no time, hungry for more.
A Word of Caution
While the Zeigarnik effect is powerful, use it wisely. You don't want to come off as too mysterious or withhold essential information. It's all about striking the right balance.
