The "We" Strategy in Email Copywriting
the secret great copywriters use to establish rapport with their prospect
In the last couple of emails I shared the persuasion techniques known as The "Yes" Ladder, The Positive Spin, and Harness the Power of First Impressions.
Now I want to shed some light on an often overlooked persuasion tactic of email copywriting. A tactic that might just be the secret weapon you've been searching for.
First I must ask: ever wondered about the power dynamics hidden within the pronouns we use?
No, it's not a trick question. In this instance I’m talking specifically about the pronouns of “We” and “Me”.
The narrative of "We" vs. "Me" is more important than you might think. It can wield immense power in the world of email copywriting.
Every business owner knows the challenges of customer engagement.
Picture this: You're at an industry conference, networking with other business magnates. As you discuss the intricacies of marketing and sales, a renowned entrepreneur shares an insight from one of their most successful campaigns.
The golden advice? Shift from 'You' to 'We'.
The mood in the room changes. The insight resonates with everyone.
By changing the narrative from "you need our services" to "together, we can achieve results", you're not just selling a product or service anymore. You're inviting potential customers into a partnership, a collaboration. It's no longer about what you're offering, but about what you can achieve together.
Can you see how this simple change in pronoun can establish rapport? Use this 'we' approach in your next email. The results might surprise you.
Have you tried this 'we' strategy? I'd love to hear your experiences, victories, and lessons. Drop a comment below.
